Reunification of two houses

Boitsfort

2025

The project reunifies a former 1887 holiday house, which had been divided into two distinct units, each modified and extended overtime with successive annexes. Superfluous additions were demolished to bring inmore natural light, strengthen the connection to the garden, and clarify theoverall volumetry. Original architectural elements were restored: wrought ironfeatures exposed, ornamentation highlighted. One of the two staircases wasremoved; the other was carefully dismantled and reassembled in reverse to servethe newly unified home. A triangular volume added at ground level creates a newand unique relationship between interior and exterior. Inside, the ground floorrooms are opened up to form a suite of five interconnected spaces spanning 24meters in length. The existing structural system is preserved, with onlytargeted interventions made to improve spatial flow. Custom-built furniture isused to tailor each room to its specific function.
